Morning Procedure
Our school gates open at 8.45am and close at 9.00am. Once the gates are closed, parents must bring their child in through the front door and sign them in at the office. This is to ensure that your child gets marked as present in the register.
- Children signed in before 9.15am will be marked as present, not late.
- Children signed in after 9.15am will be marked as late.
The staff at the gate are there to safeguard the children walking round to class. Any messages about alternative arrangements or absence etc must be communicated via the school office, as this ensures consistency.
End of Day Procedure
At the end of the school day, 3.30pm, it is very busy on the playground. Parents need to stand where they can be seen by the adult sending the class out. The adult has a register detailing children who are on the bus, going to After School Club or attending another club in school.
Changes to End of Day Arrangements
It's really important that you keep the school office informed of any changes to your child's collection arrangements.
● Any same day changes MUST be reported to the office before 2.30pm (when possible) to ensure that the message is successfully passed on to the correct person.
● Any changes to the bus can be emailed to the bus@gmilton.org email address, which is monitored regularly throughout the day by several members of staff and ensures that important information is not lost amongst many other office emails.
● If your child is being collected by another parent, the permission must come from you, not the parent collecting. Please do not be offended if permission is checked.
● Regular arrangements will be added to the information on the staff register, but we ask if a collection is on an ‘ad hoc’ basis we are informed on each day the arrangement applies.
● In an emergency, a text message to the collecting parent shown to the class teacher will be accepted.
Friday celebration worship is the day that it is easy to forget to tell us that you are collecting your child instead of them going home on the bus. If you remember whilst you are in the hall, you will need to collect your child from the green gate on the other side of the school, so that the staff on bus duty can sign your child off the bus register.
