Snowy Owls Y3

Welcome to Snowy Owls!

I hope you are enjoying a relaxing Easter holiday.

Below is the main information you need to know for Term Five.

Topic:

This term our new topic will be The Romans.

We will look at who the Romans were and how they built their empire, as well as why they invaded Britain.

It would be great to have some homework from the homework grid to display on our topic wall. It was lovely to have some posters and facts for our Rivers topic last term as well as lots of book reviews in our book corner.

Homework:

Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

On top of the homework given out on a Friday, it would be great if you could read with your child at least three times per week and sign their reading diaries (they will earn 1 dojo point for every three times they read and have their diaries signed at home.

Please can they also spend 5 min per day on Times Table Rock Stars. They all have their logins in their homework folders.

The children will have spellings every week and every other week another piece of homework.

On the week when only spellings are sent home, please can the children spend some extra time on Times Table Rock Stars and there is also the option to choose something from the homework grid to complete.

Spellings:

Spelling tests will be on a Thursday morning.

The children will take home a look, cover, write sheet. Please can they complete all the columns before returning it with their homework on a Wednesday.

PE:

PE this term is on a Monday and on a Thursday both with Mr Pearce.

Please send your child to school dressed in their PE kit. The PE Kit should consist of the following: navy, black or grey bottoms (shorts/ joggers/ PE skirt), white T-Shirt and navy, black or grey warm hoodie/ top if required. They need to come to school in their school shoes and have trainers with them to change into for PE. This is so that they have clean shoes in the classroom.

Whole Class Reading:

Our new whole class guided reading book for the last two terms will be 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman.  There are enough copies in school for the children to share one between two, but if your child would like their own copy please feel free to buy one. Here is a link to it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Firework-Makers-Daughter-Philip-Pullman/dp/0241326338/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&dib_tag=se&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.EZ7pwR4rnYe9t24Vl2djxrMuvoJ8z_VYdmeZcIfZpO_Nwe3cxAXv3J_TYyPbsEDnrIVKicffrMYhPLbv07ymEBUgqeb2BE_YdSla2S4YfVYmapXQU6s-XkhATEnhx_21LGn69tswGqTLfUb5FV79XyNsGlXL1YcOOA-OtlC6rR3XQyrUBS7KfN-r7AeR1TE-hIok6BxZ2kgB0e0avwfrIwITF27gmi6QZazslqsed3c.fLRTUtmsazJ3CJnd6YbLOmBqVcHrctCWDIJgmkyHVo4&qid=1712316234&sr=8-1

Warmer weather:

Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school every day and on warmer days please apply sun cream in the morning and provide a hat for outdoor play.

Please can you make sure your child has outdoor shoes or wellies to change into for break and lunch as well as a waterproof coat every day.

Our cloakroom is very small in Snowy Owls so please can I ask that the children only bring the essentials to school (book bag, water bottle (water only please) and packed lunch).

As the children are now in KS2 they no longer receive a snack at school, so please send them with a healthy snack (fruit or vegetables) for break time.

Please contact me via the office (office@greatmiltonschool.co.uk) if you have any questions or there is anything that you need us to know.
